Community Service Hours
Students are able to earn a silver cord for graduation if they earn 20 hours of community service throughout their time at Weaver Middle School. Students can obtain the Community Service Log sheet by visiting the counseling office. Once the community service hours have been approved and signed off, students can turn in their log sheet to the counseling office where the community service hours will be recorded.
Some Examples of Community Services Hours are:
Beautifying our school campus
Helping set up for school dances or graduation
Organizing a canned food drive
Volunteering at a homeless shelter, church or public works program
Community Service is defined as volunteer time devoted to assisting community organizations such as schools, churches, shelters, charities, and youth programs. Students may perform service during the summer, school year, weekends, and nights. Service performed as a result of disciplinary action cannot be counted. Volunteering in a family business or profit making organization cannot be counted.
