Surplus Assets for Sale

Standard Operating Procedure – Private Sale of Surplus District Asset

1.      After a District asset has been discarded/sursplus, the item may be sold at private sale IF the fair market value is below $2,500.00 (Education Code 17546). The District reserves the right to sell eligible items at its discretion.           

2.      The District will advertise such item on its website (/o/wusd/page/surplus-assets-for-sale) for a period of ten (10) business days.      

3.      During this period Weaver Union School District employees may submit sealed bids for such item to the District Office. 

All bids must be received by the District Office by 4:00 p.m. on the last day of the advertising period.

 Bids must include the following information:

a.       Bidder’s full name

b.      Mailing Address

c.       Telephone Number

d.      Email Address

e.       WUSD Department/Work Site

f.        Bid Amount

g.      Signature

h.      Date

*Late and/or incomplete bids will not be accepted.

4.      After the completion of the advertising period, the sale of the item will be awarded to the highest bidder within five (5) business days.

5.      IF no WUSD employees submit a bid, the item may then be advertised to WUSD families. The same bidding/award process will apply. Should no bids be received from WUSD families, the District reserves the right to dispose/discard of the item as deemed fit.          

6.      All items are sold “as is, where is.” The District makes no warranty, express or implied, as to quantity, kind, character, quality, weight, size, or description of any of the property, or its fitness for any use or purpose.          

7.      Payment shall be made in full to the Business Office within 15 business days following the award of the item.

 8.      Payment methods:

a.       Cash

b.      Cashier’s Check

c.       Money Order

*No credit card or personal check payments will be accepted.

9.      After payment has been received and cleared through the Business Office, the winning bidder must take possession of the item within five (5) business days.  Collection of the item is the sole responsibility of the winning bidder.
